BACKGROUND: This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of Qingpeng ointment (QPO), a Tibetan medicine for alleviating symptoms in individuals with acute gouty arthritis (AGA). METHODS: This study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that involved individuals with AGA whose joint pain, as measured on a visual analog scale (VAS) from 0 to 10, was equal to or greater than 3. The participants were randomly assigned to either the QPO or the placebo group and received their respective treatments twice daily for seven consecutive days. In case of intolerable pain, the participants were allowed to use diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets as a rescue medicine. The primary outcomes measured were joint pain and swelling, while the secondary outcomes included joint mobility, redness, serum uric acid levels, C-reactive protein levels, and the amount of remaining rescue medicine. Any adverse events that occurred during the trial were also recorded. RESULTS: A total of 203 cases were divided into two groups, with balanced baselines: 102 in the QPO group and 101 in the placebo group. For joint pain, differences between the groups were notable in the VAS scores [1.75 (0, 3.00) versus 2.00 (1.00, 3.50); P = 0.038], changes in VAS [5.00 (3.00, 6.00) versus 4.00 (2.00, 6.00); P = 0.036], and disappearance rate [26.47% compared to 15.84%; P = 0.046] after treatment. Concerning joint swelling, significant between-group differences were observed in the VAS scores [1.00 (0, 2.30) versus 2.00 (0.70, 3.00); P = 0.032] and disappearance rate [33.33% compared to 21.78%; P = 0.046] at treatment completion. The QPO group exhibited a statistically significant mobility improvement compared to the placebo group (P = 0.004). No significant differences were found in other secondary outcomes. Five patients, four from the QPO group and one from the other, encountered mild adverse events, primarily skin irritation. All of these cases were resolved after dosage reduction or discontinuation of the medication. CONCLUSIONS: Compared to the placebo, QPO exhibits positive effects on AGA by alleviating pain, reducing swelling, and enhancing joint mobility, without causing significant adverse effects. Despite the great promise in the development of biodegradable and ecofriendly air filters by electrospinning of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) nanofibrous membranes (NFMs), the as-electrospun PLA nanofibers are generally characterized by poor electroactivity and smooth surface, challenging the exploitation of electrostatic adsorption and physical interception that are in need for efficient removal of pathogens and particulate matters (PMs). Herein, a combined "electrospinning-electrospray" strategy was disclosed to functionalize the PLA nanofibers by direct anchoring of highly dielectric BaTiO3@ZIF-8 nanohybrids (BTO@ZIF-8), conferring simultaneous promotion of surface roughness, electret properties (surface potential as high as 7.5 kV), and self-charging capability (∼190% increase in tribo-output voltage compared to that of pure PLA). Benefiting from the well-tailored morphology and increased electroactivity, the electrospun-electrosprayed PLA/BTO@ZIF-8 exhibited excellent PM-capturing performance (up to 96.54% for PM0.3 and 99.49% for PM2.5) while providing desirable air resistance (only 87 Pa at 32 L/min) due primarily to the slip flow of air molecules over the nanohybrid protrusions. This was accompanied by excellent antibacterial properties (99.9% inhibition against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli), arising presumably from the synergistic effects of enhanced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, plentiful ion release, and surface charges. Our proposed strategy opens up pathways to afford exceptional combination of high-efficiency and low-resistance filtration, excellent antibacterial performance, and mechanical robustness without sacrificing the biodegradation profiles of PLA NFMs, holding potential implications for efficient and long-term healthcare.

Biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA) nanofibrous membranes (NFMs) hold great potential to address the increasing airborne particulate matter (PM) and dramatic accumulation of plastic/microplastic pollution. However, the field of PLA NFM-based filters is still in its infancy, frequently dwarfed by the bottlenecks regarding relatively low surface activity, poor electroactivity, and insufficient PM capturing mechanisms. This effort discloses a microwave-assisted approach to minute-level synthesis of dielectric ZIF-8 nanocrystals with high specific surface area (over 1012 m2/g) and ultrasmall size (∼240 nm), which were intimately anchored onto PLA nanofibers (PLA@ZIF-8) by a combined "electrospinning-electrospray" strategy. This endowed the PLA@ZIF-8 NFMs with largely increased electroactivity in terms of elevated dielectric coefficient (an increase of 202%), surface potential (up to 5.8 kV), and triboelectric properties (output voltage of 30.8 V at 10 N, 0.5 Hz). Given the profound control over morphology and electroactivity, the PLA@ZIF-8 NFMs exhibited efficient filtration of PM0.3 (97.1%, 85 L/min) with a decreased air resistance (592.5 Pa), surpassing that of the pure PLA counterpart (88.4%, 650.9 Pa). This was essentially ascribed to realization of multiple filtration mechanisms for PLA@ZIF-8 NFMs, including enhanced physical interception, polar interactions, and electrostatic adsorption, and the unique self-charging function triggered by airflow vibrations. Moreover, perfect antibacterial performance was achieved for PLA@ZIF-8, showing ultrahigh inhibition rates of 99.9 and 100% against E. coli and S. aureus, respectively. The proposed hierarchical structuring strategy, offering the multifunction integration unattainable with conventional methods, may facilitate the development of biodegradable long-term air filters.

The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is the most frequently altered gene in glioblastoma (GBM), which plays an important role in tumor development and anti-tumor immune response. While current molecular targeted therapies against the EGFR signaling pathway and its downstream key molecules have not demonstrated favorable clinical outcomes in GBM. Whereas tumor immunotherapies, especially immune checkpoint inhibitors, have shown durable antitumor responses in many cancers. However, the clinical efficacy is limited in patients carrying EGFR alterations, indicating that EGFR signaling may involve tumor immune response. Recent studies reveal that EGFR alterations not only promote GBM cell proliferation but also influence immune components in the tumor microenvironment (TME), leading to the recruitment of immunosuppressive cells (e.g., M2-like TAMs, MDSCs, and Tregs), and inhibition of T and NK cell activation. Moreover, EGFR alterations upregulate the expression of immunosuppressive molecules or cytokines (such as PD-L1, CD73, TGF-ß). This review explores the role of EGFR alterations in establishing an immunosuppressive TME and hopes to provide a theoretical basis for combining targeted EGFR inhibitors with immunotherapy for GBM.

Although skin-like sensors that can simultaneously detect various physical stimuli are of fair importance in cutting-edge human-machine interaction, robotic, and healthcare applications, they still face challenges in facile, scalable, and cost-effective production using conventional active materials. The emerging two-dimensional transition metal carbide, Ti3C2Tx MXene, integrated with favorable thermoelectric properties, metallic-like conductivity, and a hydrophilic surface, is promising for solving these problems. Herein, skin-like multifunctional sensors are designed to precisely detect and distinguish temperature and pressure stimuli without cross-talk by decorating elastic and porous substrates with MXene sheets. Because the combination of the thermoelectric and conductive MXene with the thermally insulating, elastic, and porous substrate integrates efficient Seebeck and piezoresistive effects, the resultant sensor exhibits not only an ultralow detection limit (0.05 K), high signal-to-noise ratio, and excellent cycling stability for temperature detection but also high sensitivity, fast response time, and outstanding durability for pressure detection. Based on the impressive dual-mode sensing properties and independent temperature and pressure detections, a multimode input terminal and an electronic skin are created, exhibiting great potential in robotic and human-machine interaction applications. This work provides a scalable fabrication of multifunctional tactile sensors for precisely detecting and distinguishing temperature and pressure stimuli.

Backgrounds: Nursing is the key group to provide healthcare services, and it is easy for nursing staff to develop mental health problems. Aims: The study aimed to evaluate prevalence of psychological symptoms in nurses working in an intensive care unit (ICU) and the inter-relationship of associations of psychological symptoms using network analysis. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional design study. The Chinese version of the Symptom Check List-90 (SCL-90) was used to measure the psychological status of ICU nurses. The network structure of psychological symptoms was characterised, and indices of 'Expected influence' were used to identify symptoms central to the network. Network stability was examined using a case-dropping bootstrap procedure. Results: Multiple logistic regression analysis found those who had worked more than 15 years were less likely to experience positive psychological symptoms, whereas nurses working in emergency ICU and other ICUs, nurses working in departments with over 16 beds were more likely to develop psychological symptoms. In addition, 'Anxiety', 'Mental degeneration' and 'Depression' were central symptoms in the network. Conclusions: ICU nurses reported a high level of psychological symptoms, which may affect the quality of their work and worsen public health problems.

Tensor completion (TC) refers to restoring the missing entries in a given tensor by making use of the low-rank structure. Most existing algorithms have excellent performance in Gaussian noise or impulsive noise scenarios. Generally speaking, the Frobenius-norm-based methods achieve excellent performance in additive Gaussian noise, while their recovery severely degrades in impulsive noise. Although the algorithms using the lp -norm ( ) or its variants can attain high restoration accuracy in the presence of gross errors, they are inferior to the Frobenius-norm-based methods when the noise is Gaussian-distributed. Therefore, an approach that is able to perform well in both Gaussian noise and impulsive noise is desired. In this work, we use a capped Frobenius norm to restrain outliers, which corresponds to a form of the truncated least-squares loss function. The upper bound of our capped Frobenius norm is automatically updated using normalized median absolute deviation during iterations. Therefore, it achieves better performance than the lp -norm with outlier-contaminated observations and attains comparable accuracy to the Frobenius norm without tuning parameter in Gaussian noise. We then adopt the half-quadratic theory to convert the nonconvex problem into a tractable multivariable problem, that is, convex optimization with respect to (w.r.t.) each individual variable. To address the resultant task, we exploit the proximal block coordinate descent (PBCD) method and then establish the convergence of the suggested algorithm. Specifically, the objective function value is guaranteed to be convergent while the variable sequence has a subsequence converging to a critical point. Experimental results based on real-world images and videos exhibit the superiority of the devised approach over several state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of recovery performance. Matrix completion (MC) aims at recovering missing entries, given an incomplete matrix. Existing algorithms for MC are mainly designed for noiseless or Gaussian noise scenarios and, thus, they are not robust to impulsive noise. For outlier resistance, entry-wise lp -norm with and M-estimation are two popular approaches. Yet the optimum selection of p for the entrywise lp -norm-based methods is still an open problem. Besides, M-estimation is limited by a breakdown point, that is, the largest proportion of outliers. In this article, we adopt entrywise l0 -norm, namely, the number of nonzero entries in a matrix, to separate anomalies from the observed matrix. Prior to separation, the Laplacian kernel is exploited for outlier detection, which provides a strategy to automatically update the entrywise l0 -norm penalty parameter. The resultant multivariable optimization problem is addressed by block coordinate descent (BCD), yielding l0 -BCD and l0 -BCD-F. The former detects and separates outliers, as well as its convergence is guaranteed. In contrast, the latter attempts to treat outlier-contaminated elements as missing entries, which leads to higher computational efficiency. Making use of majorization-minimization (MM), we further propose l0 -BCD-MM and l0 -BCD-MM-F for robust non-negative MC where the nonnegativity constraint is handled by a closed-form update. Experimental results of image inpainting and hyperspectral image recovery demonstrate that the suggested algorithms outperform several state-of-the-art methods in terms of recovery accuracy and computational efficiency.

Growing evidence has indicated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play crucial roles in the tumorigenesis and progression of diverse malignancies. However, the majority of circRNAs involved in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain undefined and the exact functions and underlying mechanisms of circRNAs in ESCC still need further exploration. In this study, we identified a novel onco-circRNA hsa_circ_0002938, derived from the exons of cysteine-rich transmembrane BMP regulator 1 (CRIM1) pre-mRNA, referred to as circCRIM1. We found that the expression of circCRIM1 was higher in ESCC tissues, compared to para-carcinoma tissues. Increased expression of circCRIM1 was positively correlated with clinical parameters of ESCC patients including tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, tumor invasion range, and lymph node metastasis. Functionally, the results from the experiments in vitro showed that the knockdown of circCRIM1 suppressed proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in ESCC cells. By conducting bioinformatics algorithms analyses and microRNA (miRNA) rescue experiments, we found that circCRIM1 could act as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to sponge miR-342-3p in ESCC cells, and thereby upregulated the expression of transcription factor 12 (TCF12), a key regulator promoting the EMT process. Taken together, circCRIM1 facilitates the progression of ESCC by sponging miR-342-3p to regulate TCF12 and promote EMT, and the circCRIM1/miR-342-3p/TCF12 axis may be regarded as a potential predictive biomarker and therapeutic target for treating ESCC.

BACKGROUND: The outbreak of COVID-19 disarranged lives across mainland China. No study has examined changes in psychological symptoms of healthcare professionals in the intensive care unit (ICU) before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. The aim of this study was to estimate changes in psychological symptoms of ICU healthcare professionals before and after the COVID-19 outbreak, and to analyze factors related to psychological symptoms. METHODS: Two waves' administrations were implemented between December 13 and December 14, 2018, and between April 5 and April 7, 2020, respectively. The symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) were used to evaluate psychological symptoms. Multiple logistical regression was used to reveal the risk of psychological symptoms. RESULTS: A total of 3902 and 3908 ICU healthcare professionals took part in the first and second surveys. The mean total score of the SCL-90 was 179.27 (70.02) at wave 1 and 147.75 (58.40) at wave 2, respectively. The proportion of psychological symptoms was 55.6 % (95%CI = 54.0-57.1) at wave 1. But rates of psychological symptoms decreased to 36.6 % (95%CI = 35.1-38.2) at wave 2. ICU healthcare professionals with western economic belt and 6-10 years of work were more likely to develop psychological symptoms, while ICU healthcare professionals with the later survey and doctoral degree were less likely to develop psychological symptoms. CONCLUSION: Although COVID-19 period benefited psychological symptoms of ICU healthcare professionals, psychological symptoms still had a related high prevalence. Regular screening and appropriate interventions should still be implemented to decrease the risk for psychological symptoms among Chinese ICU healthcare professionals.

Sparse index tracking, as one of the passive investment strategies, is to track a benchmark financial index via constructing a portfolio with a few assets in a market index. It can be considered as parameter learning in an adaptive system, in which we periodically update the selected assets and their investment percentages based on the sliding window approach. However, many existing algorithms for sparse index tracking cannot explicitly and directly control the number of assets or the tracking error. This article formulates sparse index tracking as two constrained optimization problems and then proposes two algorithms, namely, nonnegative orthogonal matching pursuit with projected gradient descent (NNOMP-PGD) and alternating direction method of multipliers for l0 -norm (ADMM- l0 ). The NNOMP-PGD aims at minimizing the tracking error subject to the number of selected assets less than or equal to a predefined number. With the NNOMP-PGD, investors can directly and explicitly control the number of selected assets. The ADMM- l0 aims at minimizing the number of selected assets subject to the tracking error that is upper bounded by a preset threshold. It can directly and explicitly control the tracking error. The convergence of the two proposed algorithms is also presented. With our algorithms, investors can explicitly and directly control the number of selected assets or the tracking error of the resultant portfolio. In addition, numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithms outperform the existing approaches.

Inspired by sparse learning, the Markowitz mean-variance model with a sparse regularization term is popularly used in sparse portfolio optimization. However, in penalty-based portfolio optimization algorithms, the cardinality level of the resultant portfolio relies on the choice of the regularization parameter. This brief formulates the mean-variance model as a cardinality ( l0 -norm) constrained nonconvex optimization problem, in which we can explicitly specify the number of assets in the portfolio. We then use the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMMs) concept to develop an algorithm to solve the constrained nonconvex problem. Unlike some existing algorithms, the proposed algorithm can explicitly control the portfolio cardinality. In addition, the dynamic behavior of the proposed algorithm is derived. Numerical results on four real-world datasets demonstrate the superiority of our approach over several state-of-the-art algorithms.

Jingfang Granules have the effects of inducing sweating to releasing exterior, dispersing wind and dispelling dampness. Modern studies have demonstrated that it has antipyretic and antiviral activities. Therefore, this trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Jingfang Granules in the treatment of common cold(wind-cold syndrome). A total of 138 common cold(wind-cold syndrome) patients meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were randomly assigned into the experimental group(n=92) and the placebo group(n=46) at a ratio of 2∶1 and respectively received Jingfang Granules and Jingfang Granules simulation agent. The treatment lasted for 5 d, and the follow-up time was 8 d. Recovery time was employed as the main indicator of efficacy. The median reco-very time of the experimental group was 3.33 d, shorter than that 7.00 d of the placebo group. The efficacy of the experimental group was better than that of the placebo group(P<0.000 1). The major symptom severity score-time AUC of the experimental group was 489.90±206.95, which was smaller than that of the placebo group(763.50±339.53). The recovery rate and marked effective rate of the experimental group were higher than those of the placebo group, The above outcomes were statistically significant between the two groups(P<0.05). The disappearance time and rate of single symptoms including aversion to cold, nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, headache, pharyngeal itching/pain, white sputum, and somatalgia also had significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05), indicating that Jingfang Granules had good performance in alleviating the above symptoms. During the study period, one case of the experimental group had a slight increase in serum creatinine, which returned to the normal level after re-examination. The incidence of adverse reactions was 1.10%, and no serious adverse reaction was found. The two groups had no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions. In conclusion, Jingfang Granules can significantly shorten the course of common cold(wind-cold syndrome) and quickly alleviate the clinical symptoms, demonstrating good safety and clinical advantages.

BACKGROUND: Acute gouty arthritis (AGA) is an inflammatory arthritis clinically characterized by severe pain, swelling, and restricted movement of joints, which may cause physical disability and decrease quality of life. The use of recommended first-line treatment agents for AGA may be limited by adverse events. There has been a traditional use of alternative therapies for AGA. Tibetan medicine Qingpeng ointment is one of the on-market herbal products used for symptom relief of AGA. Previous clinical studies indicated that Qingpeng ointment can relieve pain, swelling, redness, and dysfunction of joints in patients with AGA. However, there is no rigorous randomized trial to demonstrate its benefit for AGA. In order to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Qingpeng ointment for AGA, we designed a randomized controlled trial. METHODS: This study is designed as a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Two hundred and six adults with acute flare of gout, and visual analogue scale (VAS) score of joint pain ≥ 3 points will be recruited. Participants will be randomly assigned to herbal treatment or placebo group at a ratio of 1:1. Qingpeng ointment, or equal placebo ointment, will be applied topically at involved joints twice a day for consecutive 7 days. Patients in both groups would be allowed giving diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets as rescue therapy when VAS score of joint pain ≥ 7 points during the treatment. The primary outcomes will be joint pain measured by VAS score, and joint swelling measured using width and thickness of affected joints and VAS score. Other outcome measures will be joint mobility, joint redness, C-reactive protein, serum uric acid, and the use of rescue medicine as well as adverse effect. DISCUSSION: To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first multi-center, randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled clinical trial to assess the efficacy of Tibetan medicine Qingpeng ointment for AGA. The findings of this study would provide evidence for its use to relieve symptoms of AGA. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ISRCTN ISRCTN34355813 . Registered on 25 January 2021.

Cosmic-ray neutron sensing (CRNS) method was recently used to monitor soil moisture in farmland. But its spatial representation and accuracy needs further study. A field experiment was carried out to evaluate the applicability of CRNS for monitoring soil moisture in winter wheat farmland of the North China Plain. The spatial weight of CRNS detector was simulated by the ultra rapid adaptable neutron-only simulation for environmental research (URANOS) model and the CRNS-estimated soil moisture was compared with the measured soil moisture. The results showed that the CRNS detection radius obtained by URANOS simulation was 127-139 m, and that the weight distribution showed good agreement with the theoretical value. The determination coefficient (R2) and the root-mean-square error (RMSE) between CRNS-estimated soil moisture and measured soil moisture reached 0.64 and 0.05 cm3·cm-3, respectively. The CRNS-estimated soil moisture was sensitive to the changes of overall moisture in the detection area, with seasonal variation of measurement accuracy. In conclusion, cosmic-ray neutron sensing is a continuous and reliable method for monitoring total water content in winter wheat fields.

Evodiamine (Evo), a quinazoline alkaloid and one of the most typical polycyclic heterocycles, is mainly isolated from Evodia rugulosa. Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) is a newly identified way of angiogenesis during tumor neovascularization, which is prevalent in a variety of highly invasive tumors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect and mechanism of Evo on VM in human colorectal cancer (CRC) cells. The number of VM structures was calculated by the three-dimensional culture of human CRC cells. Wound-healing was used to detect the migration of HCT116 cells. Gene expression was detected by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR assay. CD31/PAS staining was used to identify VM. Western blotting and immunofluorescence were used to detect protein levels. The results showed that Evo inhibited the migration of HCT116 cells, as well as the formation of VM. Furthermore, Evo reduced the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α), VE-cadherin, VEGF, MMP2, and MMP9. In a model of subcutaneous xenotransplantation, Evo also inhibited tumor growth and VM formation. Our study demonstrates that Evo could inhibit VM in CRC cells HCT116 and reduce the expression of HIF-1α, VE-cadherin, VEGF, MMP2, and MMP9.

Achieving a profound understanding of the reaction kinetics of a catalyst by modulating its electronic structure is significant. Herein, we present a scalable approach to achieving a spatially partial substitution of S into NiMoO4. The increase in active components in a true Ni3+ oxidation state as a result of optimizing the coordination environment greatly improved urea oxidation activity.

Background/Aims. Sexual differences exist in endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), and various cardiovascular risk factors are associated with the preservation of endothelial function in premenopausal women. However, it is unclear whether differences in endothelial function and circulating EPCs exist between overweight premenopausal women and age-matched men. Methods. We compared EPC counting and functions in normal-weight and overweight premenopausal women and men, evaluated endothelial function in each group, and detected the expression of the guanosine triphosphate cyclohydrolase I (GTPCH I) pathway. Results. The number of EPCs was lower in the male group than in the female group, regardless of normal-weight or overweight status, and there was no significant difference between the different weight groups among females or males. Endothelial function and EPC migration and proliferation were preserved in overweight premenopausal women compared with overweight men as were nitric oxide (NO) levels in plasma and secreted by EPCs. Endothelial function, the circulating EPC population, and NO levels were not different between normal-weight and overweight premenopausal women. Flow-mediated dilatation was significantly correlated with EPC function, plasma NO levels, and EPC-secreted NO. Conclusions. This investigation provides the first evidence for sex-based differences in EPC activity and endothelial function in overweight middle-aged individuals; these differences are associated with alterations in NO production and may partly occur through downregulation of the GTPCH I pathway. The present results provide new insights into the mechanism underlying the preserved endothelial function in overweight premenopausal women and may uncover a potential therapeutic target for endothelial repair in overweight population.

The construction of active sites with excellent water oxidation activity is of great significance in the design of OER electrocatalysts. Herein, we propose an anion regulation strategy, in which N-doped carbon nanotubes play a protective role by coating the Ni3Fe alloy particles and two non-metallic elements S and Se are introduced to adjust the electronic structure, this can further help construct a heterogeneous surface, improve the valence state, and increase the hydrophilicity of the catalysts. The two as-prepared catalysts N-CNTs@NiS2/Fe7S8 (overpotential of 330 mV to achieve 50 mA cm-2 and Tafel slope of 51.49 mV dec-1) and N-CNTs@NiSe2/Fe3Se4 (360 mV and 72.32 mV dec-1, respectively) exhibited considerably high OER activity in 1.0 M KOH solutions.

Although versatile piezoresistive pressure sensors show a great potential as human motion detection and wearable smart devices, it is still an issue to widen their working range and enhance their sensitivity. Herein, hollow-structured MXene-polydimethylsiloxane composites (MPCs) are fabricated by utilizing nickel foam as the three-dimensional substrate for dip-coating of MXene sheets followed by infiltrating of polydimethylsiloxane and etching of the nickel foam substrate. The resultant MPC performs a wide working range with bending angles of 0° to 180°, an excellent long-term reliability up to 1000 cycles under the bending angles of 15°, 30° and 150°, and a stable durability with a bending angle of 30° in a frequency range from 0.05 to 2 Hz as a bendable piezoresistive pressure sensor, which is attributed to the formation of dense conduction paths due to the interconnection of MXene sheets during the deformation of MPC. The sensor also exhibits an extremely low detection limit of 10 mg for pressure detection. Interestingly, the slippage of adjacent MXene sheets is beneficial for monitoring slight vibration of equipments and detecting subtle human motions. Thus, the MPC sensor could be applied for stereo sound and ultrasonic vibration monitoring, swallowing, facial muscle movement, and various intense motion detections, demonstrating its great potential as wearable smart devices.
